There is enough detail on the gown and eagle's feathers to make VG-10 as the technical grade, but it's detailed because of the obverse gouges/pitting, as well as the gash on the eagle's left wing (our visual right).

This one arrived. Photos can be deceiving. Once again I removed all the dirt and grime on the surfaces with Vaseline. What looked like gouges and scratch turned out to be grime.   |

I have used Vaseline to remove surface grime on both silver and copper coins since the early 1960's. learned the trick from an old time dealer in Hollywood CA. Works great on copper because it doesn't change the color, only removes the surface dirt.

That's a new one for me. How do you do it? Rub Vaseline on the surface both sides with your fingers. Let it sit a couple minutes and wipe off with a soft cloth. It make take several times doing that to get all the dirt loosened. It does not remove corrosion, only grime. |
