Not my coin, just thought this would be a good teaching moment. Seems some new collectors think clips must be somewhat perfect arcs. In addition to ragged clips, corner clips, and edge clips, crescent clips are another example of non-perfect arcs. I've heard that if there's no date, PCGS will call these struck on scrap. Crescent clip sounds cooler.

Wow, thats an extreme clip.
Your right, it won't be a perfect arc, it starts of as an arc on the planchet but
when the coin is struck, there is no collar in that area to restrict the flow of metal.

with half the planchet missing how does that get a even upset on the remaining portion?

While viewing the photos my mind was almost on the same thought process
