Is This A 1922 Weak "d" Lincoln Cent?

Zurie Pillar of the Community United States 5663 Posts	Posted 04/12/2026 12:06 pm The reverse is somewhat weak, but IGWT is very sharp, and the D is stronger than you would expect for a "weak D". So I'm leaning towards a regular 22-D, although perhaps the early stages of grease build up in the mintmark. Report this Post to the Staff
Skippy Topaz Valued Member United States 255 Posts	Posted 04/12/2026 1:06 pm Thanks for taking the time to reply :) I only just noticed it as I was looking at my Wheat Pennies album for the first time in years and thought I'd try and fill in the missing key dates, 1909-S VDB, 1909-S, 1914-D and 1931-S.. I don't count the 1922 No-Date because that one's out of my price range None of them are in great shape as I collected them all when I was a kid by looking through my parents change every day and really just wanted to make a notation in the album somewhere in case it was a Weak-D so when the kids or grand kids decide to get rid of it, they'd know what it was.. Chase007 Pillar of the Community United States 7509 Posts	Posted 04/13/2026 09:55 am A 1922-D "Weak D" cent is qualified by a barely visible, "ghosted" Denver mint mark resulting from a worn die or over-polishing, accompanied by overall weak strike details. Specifically,it features a weak terminal "2" in the date, a mushy "O" in "ONE" on the reverse. Report this Post to the Staff
