Bought this today. Somewhat older holder, any thoughts on grade?

You need to crop it more. The numbers on the label are still visible. The type, the grade, and the rest is easy to figure out.

I have removed the offending photos and ijn1944's "guess" from the topic.

Thank you, I didn't realize that the photo still showed the details.

Based on the second reverse photo, I will guess MS65FB. PCGS seems oddly forgiving on full bands for the final Mercury dime years.

I'll say MS-64.

Then why is the 1945 Philly FB so expensive?

Rarity.

All I can say is that I believe they are more forgiving for 1943-1945 S dimes on full bands than on coins from earlier decades.

the blow up photos surfaces are obscured by too much lighting. the small photos are too small to assess properly.

the blow up photos are showing a coin that is not FB. the smaller ones maybe

without better photos MS64 cant call the bands

Here is what PCGS graded it:

1945-S-Mercury-Dime-You-Vs.-PCGS

I'll try to get a good photo of the bands soon, I wasn't able to take any good ones.
I agree it was probably overgraded. (Though the bad photo quality probably didn't help)

looks like the glare from lighting and a little focus issue on the first set. the smaller photos are too small and shadows obscure surfaces. work on finding a balance. I suggest not using any overhead lighting and preview your post prior to submitting it.

I am uploading from a phone, could that be the issue?
