I am tired of all of the dealers on ebay that over grade their coins. So I decided that I would do my own over grading. These coins grade at PO-1 but if you hold them in the light just right they remind me of an MS-64 coin. lol http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...370219529814Check it out

I agree with you in the frustration but the words in the listing itself are extremely misleading. Just because towards the bottom you say it's a joke doesn't make what you saying any better then those other graders.
The only way we as numismatists will ever overcome dishonesty and diseatfullness in this world is to be above reproach in all of our actions....and auctions

Just to make sure when the listing ends I will contact the buyer to make sure they know what they are getting. I dont want to rip anyone off. Just get a laugh. LOL

Is it possible to read the date and mintmark on that Morgan? Have a look at my avatar to understand my interest.

I wish I had the nerve to do that. That's hilarious, but its a serious statement as to what goes on on good ol' ebay. The garbage that shows up is unreal, and the rip-offs are very very real. Maybe I'll bid! Bruce

No you cant see the date on either. You can barely tell that the one is a Morgan. Even the eye is gone.

Isn't there a place you can click on in the auction to report it to ebay? Has any one ever done this? What was the outcome? John1

I'm heading to the post office to mail in my can of silver coins to be slabbed. Why? You can read the dates on my coins, therefore I'd expect them to come back MS70 based on this grading system. Terrell

I am a new morgan collector and buy $200 - $300 per month. I was wondering about those overgrading dealers who list this: 1880-O Morgan silver dollar $ RARE KEY $ BU MS ++++++ $ when the picture clearly shows a smooth eagle breast and they call it BU MS. Rare Key date? come on what is that all about. Do they think we don't have the Red Book? do they think we are stupid? I have an ebay rule that I always follow. Never believe anything they say, I grade the coin myself from clear images only. If they cannot take clear photographs (they have have sold 10,000 coins on ebay) then they are frauds. It is not really that hard to take a absolutely great closeup picture with a modern $400 digital SLR and if you have sold 10,000 coins on ebay, then you are a expert, no matter that you say you are not. I know in other sales categories, ebay used to slap your hands if you described an item with the words "like" or "about" or "almost". I guess ebay has lowered its standards for coin sellers. No kidding, they would not let you even use the words "like new", it either was or was not new. But that was several years ago. All that being said, I am getting good buys of AU and BU Morgans that I am happy with, but they tend to come from sellers who DO NOT describe them like this: 1880-O Morgan silver dollar $ RARE KEY $ BU MS ++++++ $ Riverguy

Quote: Due to the large amount of detail and the luster I am going to say that these coins range in the MS-64 range.
Heck, why not go all the way and call em MS70! SGS would. This guy should apply to SGS as a grader!
