I've read that Brilliant Uncirculated is MS 60 - 62. Do you agree with the grading on this Morgan?   |

To me, this is just a marketing gimmick. Brilliant uncirculated means just that, has luster and hasn't circulated. Don't confuse this with GEM, which means MS65 or higher. I would not pay more than about $100. Greysheet retail is at $95 for MS62 and $130 for MS64. Just my Two Cents and having it in hand to evaluate makes all the difference when pics are not so good. My apologies, GLB49, at the time I was posting on my cell phone I did not see your 26,000 posts. I meant no offense. What struck me was my distaste for holders like these of which my mom bought way too many at 2 and 3 times actual value or more from places like GOVMINT.com. For nearly 15 years, They use to call her at home offering up all of these awesome investment deals for brilliant uncirculated coins. Her only saving grace was that they were real gold and silver. When I first found out about the collection (she was about 80) she was in it for about $60k, and a market value of about 40K. That was around 2017 or so. Thanks to gold prices, she solidly in the green, still has the collection, but we kids took over and ended the buying.
Anyway, I'll be a little more conscientious with my posts.

Tough to make a call from these photos but I'd say at least 62 might push 63/64 because even with these poor  photos I'm not seeing any large dings or bag marks. At 78 bucks I'd say a good coin to add to any collection. |

I'm fine with the grade, Greasy Fingers, and I'm fine with the price. The 1881-S I posted earlier was $78 and I also bought an 1890 for $79. The condition of all three is the same. They're all from the same dealer.

No, it wasn't clear. Members have posted coins they bought and used the seller's ebay photos before so that's what I thought your post was. Regardless of that, the Morgan in the NGC photo is in noticeably worse condition than any of the three I have. |

as everyone stated the photos are really hard to see the surfaces. I'm going to assume that the coin is MS as NGC would not have placed that description on the slab. the cropped photos are better but I think the lighting your are using is washing out the surfaces. try to just use natural light, no overhead lighting or flash. it may help.
the 84(O) strikes can be soft in a lot of cases. I dont think its a 62. . I'm not seeing the issues that would be presented for a 62 grade at all. without better photos i'll go with MS63 or maybe 64. if you fix the lighting and repost i'll take a second look at her.

It looks mint state based on the NGC photos, and a very flat strike. But the surfaces aren't clear enough to assess grade otherwise. But I would agree that an adjectival grade of BU from NGC usually means MS-61 or 62, and possibly 63.
