got a question everyone, I have over 7,000 wheat pennies and was wondering if I should store them in the plastic tubes or the normal paper rolls, thanks

In bulk I'd put them in paper wrappers if I bothered to roll them at all.
A big 5,000 coin bag sounds goood to me with the balance in a smaller bag.

I'd take the best looking wheaties, and put them in plastic containers, then put the remaining ones in paper just to protect the better ones luster.

I agree with bherring1964. That's what I'd do with that amount.

The most important thing is to keep them dry and protected from air. Any air tight container is fine.

I have a little over 5000 wheaties. I store them in plastic Folgers 2lb coffee containers. They have lids and stack easily.

I think it also has to do with condition and value. If you have nicer grade coins, or key/semi key dates, then I would store them on their own and most likely in some type of coin tube. If they are just common circulation coins with nothing special about them then some type of air tight container is the way to go. What I do with mine is first separate them by decade, put each decade in a seal-able Ziploc bag, put a certain amount (weight) into a plastic container that can be sealed and stacked and then put them away where they can not be in direct sunlight.
I know that a year or so ago BadThad had a long list for storing coins in bulk and can not find it at the moment but I think the process I just described is the main way he suggested.

I have 3 pop top coffee cans under my computer table. One for pennies, one for nickles and one for dimes and quarters. I would think that lots of us do many things alike in storing, sorting and collecting.
