I tend not to trust ebay sellers with long unbelievable stories. I don't really care how you acquired it, just that it is real and you are selling it. My absolute favorite ebay sale was done by my friend. Back when ebay first came out he put up an "Air Guitar" for sale advertised with instant shipping. Some guy got such a laugh from it he paid him $2.

I reported him, they did nothing obviously. Some day, I'd like to be an ebay moderator....

I sold a crock jug on ebay (I collect crocks too) that had specific markings and certain chips on the rim, the buyer relisted it with a long detailed story of how he found it in a barn in VA (I am in TX), compared my photos of the one I sold him to his listing and it was the same jug! I too am leary of long detailed explanations of how it was "found in an attic wrapped in a rag, stuffed between the rafters"

What's great about your guy Shadow is the "I'll be listing them for the next two or three weeks" bit. It appears on all of his auctions for the last three months.

Rofl yeah, just like the 'SELLING COINS FROM MY GRANDFATHER, WATCH THIS JEWEL GO WITH NO RESERVE ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS EXCEPT FOR AUTHENTICITY PURPOSES' guy. For people who are supposedly clueless, they sure know too much.
People who are actually clueless do not list in the featured items section, list at 'off' times, and do not know enough about coins to include that much detail.

Shadow, that is terrible.
Obvious fake, good feedback and a whole nice package presenting in fashion to get someone to "take a risk" on a coin...sure not for full value but even at 10% it is to be considered dirty. All just a convenient way to hose customers on 50 cent fakes for 25 bucks at a time. I can see the email chain now- "hey it MIGHT be a $300 coin, you bought it for ____, I was honest and did say it was questionable"
Poor sap that is buying it you know has such high hopes....
Such BS.
Absolutley sickening behavior from any coin dealer to prey on that. --------
On a side note, I am in the middle of a screwball deal with a seller for some coins. They are trying the gouge shipping and refuse to combine even after the auctions say they will.
Hiding behind combined shipping as being a 10% discount on the shipping prices posted.
I can only speak for myself but I will by no means let feedback scare me into paying any rediculous charges. Block me, ban me, or slander me, but threats or fear of feedback get ya nowhere.

Quote: just like the 'SELLING COINS FROM MY GRANDFATHER well I was actually selling some coins from my grandfathers collection like a key date Washington quarter that probably graded around VF-XF and figured since it was a key date and I didn't collect quarters it was a good opportunity for someone that did

Yeah I know, it's not just that that tipped me off to the mtc guy being a fake, but more the style of his auction combined with that. You know? It didn't really add up.

I actually found some coins hidden behind a mirror in my last house and I never found anything remotely like this. Just common date wheaties, merc dimes, and Roosevelt dimes. Though, I should note that they were actually my dad's when he was a kid and he forgot about them until we were moving.
