hippiebrian, are you saying it could go for more/less? I am awaiting an appraisal from heritage. There is someone selling one on ebay with a PR62 grade for a buy it now price of 5000.00 What do you all say mine could be worth? Is 4200.00 too high/low?

Congratu-freakin-lations It is not a particularly high dollar coin relative to its rarity, but it is still quite a nice and valuable coin. Based upon previous auction results from Heritage, that ebay BIN is a bit "optimistic". Heritage has auctioned 50 over the years and only one has sold for more than $4400- that was a monster NGC PR67CAM* which is the finest known(it sold for $13,800 in January 09). Just a semi-educated guess but I would say something in the $1500 neighborhood would be a realistic market value for your coin.

I just found this thread but it's quite interesting.
Mark, I'm in Cleveland, just curious, which dealer did you use?
Congrats on the find!

Like to ask a question. Can you look in the dimples on the rim of the coin to see if it was fake or not? I am just asking. I seen on a web site thats one way of telling if a silver dollar is fake or real. Fake would have like bubbles or lumps in between the dimples.

Mike, I'm not sure about that. I sent mine in for grading and certification and let me know what the deal is.

Hey Mark,
Small world! That's about 2 blocks away from me! They are nice guys but a little rough around the edges sometimes.

Mark,
Congrats on the coin coming back genuine and a PR-53! Good luck on selling it! I also believe that Heritage is the best Auction House for selling the coin. I can't even attempt to put a value on the coin but I am sure that Heritage will give you an estimate as to what it will bring.
