This is from a 1989 LMC. Is that another damaged D or just post mint damaged? Thanks

I was thinking about that yotie but there seem to be an accumulation of die chips inside the regular D which can also mean a mint damaged.

The zinc rot is causing the copper plating to curl up, giving it the appearance of "die chips"

I believe zinc rot is correct. Another plating non-success story from the mint.
