Yeah, I was looking and admiring that beauty on ebay! If I hadn't already picked up my proof; you would have had some competition here! How is it in hand?

It's very nice. Pretty heavily toned, but I would say it well deserves at least an AU-53 grade. I'd also say that it's one of those coins that has to be looked at under a loupe to see the detail completely because of the color, which could explain the low ending price. I have an 1849-O Half Dime that is a lot like this.

Nah, not the NGC MS-63 (I hope at least). I just bought it yesterday and it will probably take a few days to arrive.
I'm talking about the one I bought from you.

Oh, ok. I'm glad you like it. :-) Yeah, the even slightly mottled toning kind of makes the devices blend into the fields. The luster is a bit harder to judge I thought. It's definitely there, and quite abundant; but the toning masks it a lot on the obverse so it's hard to tell where it starts and ends. On other Seated coins I have, it's a lot easier to tell exactly where the luster has worn off due to circulation hairlines/rub. The reverse definitely has a better cartwheel affect.

I don't like really bright white coins that much anyway. Either toned and flashy, or more subdued like this (I prefer the flashy toned ones for my album though).

Well unfortunately, the 1890-S turned out way too dark in hand. It really stinks how all the coins (pretty much) I buy for type end up not being up to the picture standard...

:-( Sorry to hear shadow. Yeah, ebay is a gamble. All you can do is make an educated risk. Are you going to send it back? Well, at least you got a great rip on that 20 center! I just bought one too, which I will be posting soon. Not nearly as good of an overall value as yours though. Are you putting together a Dansco 7070? If so, the dime you bought from me would be a strong filler. I heartily suggest starting one if you haven't already...:-)

I am sending this one back certainly...I paid close to retail only because it was for my type set. I get some monster deals on ebay, but for type set coins, it just looks like that isn't the case. I have a dansco 7070 coming together, but I guess I'm just too picky, lol.
