Currency Coin of the Future Presented to G8 Leaders
By United Future World Currency on Jul 12th, 2009 in Auctions, Coin Shows and Numismatic Events, Coin or Numismatic News, Featured Coin News Articles, World Coins | No Comments

The sample of the first "test" currency from the international project for a new virtual global currency, given the draft name, "United Future World Currency - Eurodollar," was presented as the exclusive gift to Heads of State and Government at the G8 Summit: Barack H. Obama, Dmitij Anatolyevich Medvedev, Gordon Brown, Nicolas Sarkozy, Angela Merkel, Silvio Berlusconi, Taro Aso, Stephen Harper, Josè Mauel Barroso, Fredrik Reinfeldt.

The final name and symbol for the new currency will be decided in a competition for children in 1000 schools throughout the world, organised by the Museo del Tempo.

The initiative began in Italy and enjoys the patronage of the Italian Prime Minister's Office and the Italian Treasury. Although the initial aim is to unite the United States of America with the United States of Europe, it will also be open to other Countries.

The example of the Euro, which united Countries with different histories and cultures under the same currency, is a concrete precedent that demonstrates how this project can indeed come to life and gather together nations from several different continents.

In sending his best wishes for the project to its coordinator, Sandro Sassoli, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi emphasised that, "It is interesting that young students from different countries can get involved in an international project that helps them understand certain aspects of international economic policy, allowing them to prepare for the future monetary union that we hope for."

In 1996, Sandro Sassoli conceived the idea of the UFWC project, having taken advice from Arthur Schlessinger Jr, former adviser to President John F. Kennedy.

An international jury, comprising the heads of the world's leading mints, economists, Nobel-prize winners, and figures from the world of culture and journalism, will have the task of selecting and rewarding the children's best work concerning the new currency.

United Future World Currency - Eurodollar coinThe Royal Mint of Belgium, one of the world's most prestigious mints, has been the first to issue a test coin for this new currency, a special rare gold edition that was gifted at G8 Summit.

The coin has been designed by Luc Luycx, author of the common side of the Euro coins.

The project will study security and anti-counterfeit measures; meanwhile, experimentation to seek innovative solutions for an "intelligent" money are also underway.

The currency will also undergo an important public test run at the 2015 Milan Universal Expo.

Not-so-hidden meanings in the United Future World Currency

Even in the new "test" coin shown below, there are not-so-hidden meanings that portend a future plan for the world and its monetary system. That plan is quite far from the American concept of "in God we trust." This column investigates the meanings coded in the symbolism of the new World Coin, along with the meanings in the larger global monetary plan.

I have absolutely no idea how to feel about this. It would be very sad if all currencies of the world were reduced to a state of obsolescence, but I would also be rather fascinated if the world currency coins had an obverse that would be specific to its country of origin, yet were legal tender all over the world. That would cause a very eclectic mix of coins to circulate in every country.

Since money no longer has intrinsic value, why not? This will alleviate forex costs. But, I do not think you could get China to buy in. Its economy is so largely helped by artificially depressing the value of the Yuan.

Many economists think that it would slow inflation. It would also facilitate investment in countries that do not have the most stable of economies.

I wouldn't worry; the world is too fractured for something like this to ever happen. We here have too much stubborn "national pride" to ever let our currency design and denominations to ever be even partially determined by an outside committee. I'm not worried! Won't happen in my lifetime.

with CND. The world is way too fractured. Even the EU is slowing cracking right now because of the Germans and other countries not supporting the ECB's plan to pour money into Latvia and other Eastern European states.

What I find worrying is the tirade about the coin in the renewamerica.com URL. Boy there are some loonies out there. The only prophesy not referred to was any by Nostradamus. Or maybe I missed it? LOL

I suppose it was good for a laugh, but sad that people might actually believe it.

I've said this many times before. Currency as we know it today is a lost cause. Just like changing to the Metric system, many of us will fight the eventual loss of all types of currencies. Coins and paper money is doomed. As coutries, companies, organizations constantly cross bounderies and buy and sell merchandise, one unified type of a monitary system is a must. And the only method I can see fitting that is a computerized monitary system. In other words we will all soon enough use a plastic card for everything. You buy something from Russia, China, Mexico, etc and a computer does the monitary balancing of systems. No more paper, coins or even a beaver pelt for trading.
If you look carefully at every store, gas station, etc. you would see it happening now. Many people, my Son for one, do not carry money, only a credit or debit card.
Rest in Peace
