to CCF, If you scan it and post a photo here it would help a lot. If it's real it is not common and would be worth more then face value. John1

If the security strip is on the outside of the bill, then I would have to say it is altered since the security strip is internal to the currency paper(linen). Of course,

Plus, $1 bills would not have a $20 security strip. Even if it did, it would also have the watermark for Jackson, too. Sound like someone had a bit of fun with a strip and a bottle of super glue.

biokemist6 like I said.. it is on the outside of the bill.... however... as much as I agree it has been altered, my thoughts is it was a mistake made inside the mint because how can it be altered 'outside' of the mint considering you cannot just buy these 'strips' on the street? well you can't on the streets where I live...

is that scotch tape keeping the strip on the note? Yeah, even though you can't buy it, you can certainly take it out of a $20 using a scalpel and tweezers. That however, would mutilate the note and might cause it to be rejected as a counterfeit (the 20)

Yep it's worth a buck. But an interesting find nonetheless. How is it sticking to the note?

What would happen if you put it in a bill changing machine, would it be detected as a one or a twenty? John1

I would think it'll still be detected as a $1 because it senses the design, not that much the security strip.

i guess it is sticking with tape.... the dollar was given to me by a cashier when tendering change.... so.... I think I might just have to give it back to her when grabbing my coffee in the morning.
