2 different coins, date first, one shows all letters on the EPU close the other shows further away, why is this?

"rib" in the EPU shows it the best, does anyone have any input?

killians, the first coin appears to be an early die state, nice crisp letters. The second coin appears to be worn and polished creating a little larger spacing between the letters.

If it were a doubled die, I guess the question would be: "What is doubled?" Doubled die enlarge the devices. Here is an example of one.

Note the extra width of the letters and even the dots are egg shaped.

killians, the lettering is beveled toward center to allow easy release after striking. As the face of the die is polished down, the letters themselves become slightly smaller while the space between them becomes slightly larger. I don't see a variety here, just a well used die.
