I find myself, after four months of collecting, continuously searching the ground for coins. I especially look in parking lots where I've found a couple. I've found one at a park. I've recently realized that drive-throughs at fast food places have coins on the ground where people drop them and don't pick them up.

I'm not in pursuit of wealth; I just get excited when I find something.

My brother thinks I'm weird.

It's ok, we don't think you're weird

The best find I've gotten off the ground is a 1930 LWC that wasn't scratched at all. Plus, when I find a few pennies I just dump it at a donation box.

Hey - don't forget the bills! I scored a $20 bill at an amusement park last weekend. Help make up for the $50 the rides cost.

I went to Costco for lunch once: pizza & hot dog was $3.79. I found a $5 on my way to the car.

Nothing will beat when I was 12, I found a rubber-band wrapped around $200 in 20's on the sidewalk in the middle of nowhere. Man, the baseball cards I came home with that day!

I found a half dollar in a Walmart parking lot about 12 years ago. I've found lots of cash in my time, but that was the only half dollar.

Another good place to check is at automated grocery store check-outs. Its amazing how many people forget that bills are dispensed below the scanner.

Little kids are always finding money on the ground. I suspect it's because they are closer to the ground than us big, fat people.

Two places I find money are the reject trays of the coin counting machines, and the cash register coin dispenser at Subway.

If you are willing to look, parking lots almost always have discarded pennies.

I found a nickle in a coin return of a drink machine in Vegas 2 years ago.
Kinda weird...sodas cost 2.00
I kept it in my pocket for the rest of the trip. My luck was pretty good that time.
I hit four numbers straight up on the roulette wheel and had a lady dump a fist full of cash in my hands while trying to make change for the bus (I gave that back...I didn't want to risk the bad karma)
I often find cash just laying around outside...I guess I get lucky with that (nothing big just the occasional 1.00-20.00 bill)
Rest in Peace

I find a lot of coins in odd places. A recent find was a heavily-toned quarter by the side of a road where I'd stopped to check out a garage sale; it would have had to have lain there for a least a year to be that toned. Didn't buy anything at the garage sale, either, so I came out ahead on that stop.

I often find change on the ground.

The best was a $20, and the other day a $1 in front of a store.

But, you can also find jewelry!

On Father's Day about 5 to 8 years ago, my family decided to treat me to dinner at Appleby's restaurant.

As we got out of the car, I instinctively looked down, and saw a gold (it turned out to be 14 KT) necklace on the ground nearly under the back tire of the car next to ours.

Great dinner, I must admit.

I have also found silver (2 rings) in parking lots, also, earings.

Well...that's a horse of a different color.
Many there was a time that I would pull up to yardsales ...etc, and find change and cash laying around.(location of the money determined whether I looked for the owner or not)
More than once though, I would buy a box full of little things, and when I would get it home, there would be change in the bottom of the box. The best I ever did with that was paying 1.00 for the box and finding about 3.00 in change (SBA's)
