Poll Question
The prices of these are ridiculous, I was wondering if you guys thought they were going to calm down a little bit after the craze.
I was thinking about picking up just one set from the mint packaging but I have a hard time paying that kind of money. Do you think I should wait or get it over with before it gets worse?
So ultimately my question is "Will the price of the LP1 cents ever decrease?"

I will never understand the exacerbated obsession with paying an enormous amount for a coin that you could very well get in your pocket change in a month or 2.

I actually think he's talking about the Mint Set LP1s... I'm interested, too as to how that'll turn out.

Its gonna be a tough one to guesstimate, the question itself is one a lot of people ask which points to demand still being there.

The LP1 circulating cents will certainly decrease once it is more widely distributed. I just got twenty rolls from my bank... The proof Lincoln's will hold their value for a while but eventually will go the way of other overproduced mint products as the Lincoln craze wears off and people realize how many of these proof coins the mint has made. Since they are in the clad, silver, and special five coin Lincoln set coming out later this year, they will probably make around 3-4MM+.

they're way overpriced. It's ridiculous (and stinks like old fish) how so many dealers have them to sell at 5 or 6 times face per roll but the average collector can rarely find them at a bank.

The prices of the LP1 Two Roll Sets "will" of course come down.......keep in mind that they were up to $120.00....and they're down considerably from that now so...... just keep waitin' my friend.....you'll get a decent price on these eventually ! ...

I think so. The hype will end, I would say, in the next couple years when collectors realize they are not valuable because of the large quantity out there. Just like the 2009 nickels.... they were selling for around 10 dollars a piece when word first started circulating that they would have an extremely low mintage, now they can be bought for a dollar or two.

I do not totally agree, the LP1 vendor wrapped rolls are 1-thing, the LP1 from the U S Mint is another, I believe they will not go down to the dirt level as 96, 000 sets is not that many.... I could be wrong, also just opinion.....
Also I agree that the Nickel and Dime, especially the Nickel is being held back on purpose and the playing field is just not level, not fair......

At the recent coin show here, the dealers were selling them for $3-4.00 a roll and individuals for 25 cents each or 5/$1. They were very eager to move them out. One guy I talked to said a friend of his had landed $2000 worth of Lincoln 2009 type 1 in $25 sealed boxes at face value and that guy sold them for double face value to move them quickly.
My guess is that the prices will settle close to other BU rolls, maybe just a little higher.

I think we are still in the infancy of the difference between "bank wrapped rolls" and "US Mint wrapped rolls". And so I think we will "evolve" into an accepted "higher premium" for material untouched and unopened directly from the Mint. The "hot & cold" craziness will ALWAYS be there for infinity, however, no matter what the item is. So, that's why I think these "Mint wrapped two roll sets" will always hold some amount of premium compared to the Stringer rolls.......and once it comes all the way down.....it actually could rise again 15-20 years from now, once we have some years behind this.....in fact I bet it does. (just how much though, is impossible to voice an accurate opinion on).
