i am reasonably certain this is the 1953S 1MM-004, as compared the the photos on "coppercoins" site. however the die markers refered to are not present. could this imply that this may be an earlier die state that the ones photographed on his site. thanks.

It is 1953S-1MM-004. Markers are only used to confirm die state. Some come and go (die scratches in the field/clashes that are polished away.) Some get worse (Die cracks/chips/breaks/die dots)Some reverses are changed out. But still a nice find!

Umm...markers are used to confirm the DIE. Die state is confirmed by looking at the die wear on the coin.

To answer the initial post, yes it does mean that this coin could be an earlier die state than the coin photographed for the site. It also means it could be a later die state as well. The best way to tell is to evaluate the die state of the coin in the images, evaluate the die state of the coin you're holding, and figure out which was struck first.

follow up question: could the coin in question (in this case, 1953S 1MM-004) be produced by more than one die pair, or are ALL 53S 1MM-004, made by the same die's, and this one be before (or after) the one photographed for the site, where the markers are present. thanks.

All RPMs are traceable to a unique die, you cannot have the exact same RPM on more than one die.

I think dbrablec means obv rev die pairs. The obv with the rpm could have more than one rev.

In that case, yes, you could potentially have multiple reverse dies paired with an obv die that has an RPM
