My apologies for taking so long to follow-up with some photos ..... I went away on a work trip and now am home trying to figure out how to share these with you all for opinions ...... still not sure how these 'scanned' images will turn out. Anyways ...... I am sure I am missing something here ..... but through my 3x magnification this appears to be a 1945-S War Nickel with a small 's' over the dome and corrosion that I've never before seen on a silver nickel. Here are the very poor scans ..... Hmmmm .... I've tried all the buttons I know of to upload the observse ..... but I am lacking in knowing how or the system is locking me out somehow. Sufffice to say the 'obverse' photo shows a 1945 Jefferson in VG condition with lots of black crud attached. I can use your help here ..... the corrosion and 'small mint mark' on the reverse are unique in my experience ...... most likey I am missing something ....... but what? What do you think of this? Best David

The only thing I see looks like the bottom leg of a P (Top looks to be there as well but faint)

Could this be a Henning? Wish I could see some better pics of it.

I agree with Condor, I see the bottom of a P over the dome. This does appear to have some lamination as well, which you will not normally ever find on a Henning. This looks like a typical War Nickel surface for this condition with some environmental damage.

Mystery solved ..... with the power of my new 10x eyepiece .... Thanks forum for your recommendations to my post on inspection gear!
Alas ..... Condor and wheezydog are correct .... this is a 1945-P with enough corrosion and lamination damage to make it appear to my blind middle-aged eyes to maybe be a special coin.
The majority of the mint-mark is gone due to age and lamination ..... what is left is the bottom of the "P" as aptly pointed out despite my cruddy photo skills.
Bummer .... thought I had something special here .... but .... hey ... that's the nature of our roll search passion.
I'll keep looking ...... and offer my apologies for this 'false alarm'
Best
David
