So upon a rather tiresome search through the internet and through local dealers, I have found that Burlington, VT has no formal coin club. I live 30 miles north and have found only a club in central VT that has no formal meeting, only sponsors a show 4 times a year.

I guess I will start advertising on Craigslist, get a good gmail address, communicate a bunch with the local dealers and try to get the word out. Any input or direction would be greatly appreciated. Especially if you are from the northern vermont/ny area!

I know it isn't quite the same having the in-person camaraderie, but I think we are all members of a pretty good coin club right here with Coin Community!

That is so true coppernickeldaddy. And I would join, but the travel time would be a pain. No clubs around here where I live either, unless I want to drive for an hour.

I'm feeling pretty fortunate about now. There are three active clubs (regular monthly meetings and sponsor one or two shows each per year) within thirty minutes of my home. I have attended two of them with my sons regularly for a while then on occasion. Because of some schedule relief with other activities, I am hoping to get active again.

I have thought about starting a local club als, I put up the same question here and got a lot of good suggestions. If I can find the post, I will put up a link.

There are 2 different clubs near me, but each are about an hour away. I went to a show that was put on by one of them today, it's both a coin and stamp club, and they only had 8 tables, 4 stamps and 4 coin.

Here's a brochure on starting a club. You might find a few helpful things in it.

I live in NJ and there seems to be a decent amount of clubs around here. Now I really need to join one!

As already noted your in one right now. This is a coin club. Any on line coin clubs would be just like this one, wouldn't it? Not sure how an on line coin club could differ from this one that your on right now.
I'm lucky in a way but also not so lucky when it comes to such clubs. For example there are 4 coin shows a Month within 115 miles of my house every Month, all year long including on Holidays. We have an abundance of coin stores all over the place and many coin dealers at flea markets too.
With coin clubs they usually, to some extent, fail around me. I suspect this is due to the excessively high crime rate and people just don't want other people to know what they have, who they are, where they live, what the collect. Even getting coin stuff in the mail is dangerous. I know for those reasons I just couldn't join one around me.
