At current exchange rate, it's at 1048USD. Face value of the coin is clearly more than bullion value but don't expect a lot of premium on it - people that owned these coins just take them to the bank and exchange them because coin dealers in Japan aren't paying too much for them. There are a lot of dealers that get burned on these coins because they are just too difficult to sell. I do not know any Japanese gold coins struck in 1990.
