First, I just started taking photos of silver coins. It's much harder than the copper's I normally shoot. I think this is best design of the Florin series. Are these photos acceptable for grading?

From what you see, what grade would you give this coin. Thanks for your input everyone. -- Terrell

Those pictures are acceptable for grading. I would grade it as Vf. Please note the Australian grading system is different to the US. This would probably grade as Ef40.

Thanks latman. I understand the Australian grading system. Actually, I purchased the coin from an Australian dealer through e-Bay some time ago with the understanding the coin was at least VG+ for $10.50 USD. I thought the coin was a good deal. Comments welcome. -- Terrell

It is much better than VG, if it were VG, nearly all the detail would be gone. Do you mean Vf+? Current catalogue value for Vf is $25 Australian.

I stand corrected on the VG+, I checked my records and if was VF. When I got the coin, I was and still am pleased with the coin. Again, thanks for the input. I am putting together a type set of Florins and this is my favorite coin of the set. -- Terrell

It is a really nice design. Yours has a nice reverse, with two clear steps, always something to look for. The Centenary florin will be the pricey one for your type set if you haven't found one yet.

I purchased the coin because of the reverse being so well struck. Guess which one coin I still need for this set

I noticed a fantasy coin being made for the 1910. Do you think it's worthwhile to include this in a Florin type set?

No, stick with the real ones. If you want a George V florin with the regular portrait look for a VF to EF 1936, they are usually well struck and not too pricey.
