Very hard to tell by the pictures... filled die or Struck Through Grease? I am very far from an expert. I would be unsure if it would bring any sort of premium.

I would need to see a much better image to say either way. Try to get a closer view of the area, not the whole coin.... Maybe was once owned by an atheist? LOL MM

Brilliant! "Ultra Rare Atheist Error Lincoln Cent" Use that title on ebay and it will bring thousands. Brilliant! (anyone know those corny little beer commercials with the "BRILLIANT!" guys?... well that's what I was going for)

Okay, I can't guarantee how good this pictures are but they are closer. BTW, I'm more interested in searching and finding some really cool error coins than I am in whether they would sell for alot of money or not. Just so you know what and deranged person I am. Looks like a filled die error to me,, There are collectors of the athiest type coins, some will pay a small premium for circulated examples, .50 to a buck or so . Download Attachment: 200642722947_IMG_1369~1.jpg49.47 KB

I think I'll put a couple of quarters in a jar and keep the coin. Thanks for teaching me something new.

Your coin is the result of an overpolished die, probably to remove clash marks, and just went a bit too far. 1970-1973 are strangely weak years for the thickness and relief of the motto to begin with, and any amount of polishing make them excessively weak. An "atheist" cent refers to a particluar 1970S cent that has a Cud that completely covers the word GOD from the motto. They are rather valuable in the right market. What you have is NOT an atheist cent.

Actually ther is a petion to get a bill in congress to remove In god we Trust from any monies produced from the mint forthwith. Because he feels it is Infringing on his constitutional rights so it may removed in the future (I HOPE NOT)

Just curious, who is "he" that feels his rights are being infringed upon by the words In God We Trust..?

Michael Newdow, the same kook who got smacked down by SCOTUS for trying to challenge the constitutionality of the Pledge of Allegiance
