I got a group of mint set and all looked great. Then I looked at the 1962 and I was like ugh. The half was bad looking and then I seen the nickel, it does show up good but it's blueish grayish. It's a sweeeet looking nickel.

On the last pic you can see the coins can almost meet, very thin plastic between them.

Mike that set is a Proof set, see the PC at the bottom left corner. also a mint set has 2-envelopes like this one, except 1- envelope has a blue strip across the top, from Philly, and the second envelope has a red strip across the top, from Denver, Mike....

I have had mint sets where the "crimp" to separate coins actually crimped the coin as well and left very strong damage to the coin. This looks like it has been handled heavily, moved around a lot or dropped a few times and the weight of the half has been working it's way through to the neighboring section.

The coins look good except for the spotted and stained half Dollar......Looking from my experience through the original cello package is very deceiving, the coins usually look MUCH nicer once removed from the package ( if that is your intention ), I also collect these sets, good luck, Mike...

If this is a proof set where is that ever popular mirror-like field?

I would venture a guess that it would be there if you remove the cello wrap, well at least the coins "should" be more mirror-like......

It's a proof set, I got a group of 1960-1965. Um I'm not gonna open the sets but still gonna keep this one because of the nickel. I will just buy a new one. I have the full set of proofs from 1960-2009 the 2009 one thats already out. lol

Here is a 1957 Proof set. The coin looks 9 times better than in the pic.
