I found a coin similar in my world coin book but not an exact match. The front of the coin matches, the back doesn't. According to the book, it's an italian centesimi. It has a picture of a man with the words/letters: VITT EM III on the left, and RE E IMP on the right. But the thing is, the coin is the exact same on both sides, no difference on either side. Can't find a date on the coin, may be rubbed off. Is it a double sided coin, is it before 1901? I need help identifiying, and a price range if known.

Thanks,
Danielle

Head's or tails. Heads I win. LOL
This coin may have been made from two coins. Inpect the edge carefully to see if there is any sign that the coin was once split.

Or perhaps it is a medalion of some sort.

It's presumably Italian (King Victor Emmanuel III reigned 1900-1946). This piece dates from the Fascist era; Mussolini gave his king the title "emperor" (IMP on your coin) when he invaded Ethiopia in 1936.

They definitely never issued a coin like that. It could be a medal, but medals normally don't have exactly the same designs on both sides either, so it's far more likely to be a concocted "double-headed coin" like toast alluded to - it may have been done by Italian soldiers in the trenches during WWII. Genuine "double-headed" mint errors do exist, and are usually worth quite a bit, but they're very seldom encountered.
