The 1889 CC is a key date with only 350,000 coins minted. In VF-20 this coin lists at $1850.00. I think yor coin might grade at F-12.

Your Morgan looks like a perfect match for the VG-8 example shown in the PCGS Coin Grading and Counterfeit Detection book (a useful reference!). It has a couple small rim dings which probably aren't a problem at this grade level. The stain in the right obverse field likewise should not detract from the value and the color looks original. Retail price guides show this coin to be worth over $500 in VG-8. You could reasonably expect to flip it for $400 or more, assuming you want to part with it. I like it!

I too think a TPG would give this an F-12. It's very original looking, and keys often get a small bump in grade from TPGs. I especially like the obverse.

You are one nice guy! ------------------------------ It does not grade less than VG so you shouldn't melt it. I'd grade it VG10. Could go F12 but seems a bit too worn for Fine. This coin should easily bring $500 raw.

For any of those deeply frightened for the safety of my Carson City, I was never going to melt him. Hopefully you can all sleep better.

Guys and gals, he's kidding! Come on. Weak rim obverse and slightly too much wear for a VG10. VG8

"melt" and "CC" should never be in the same sentence! Quote: he's kidding! Doesn't matter! 50 lashes with a wet noodle! GraceOutcast, our RNP (Resident Noodle Pelter) should be along shortly to deliver the sentence... (Nice CC, coins92 )

Quote: I was at work today looking through the $15 morgans and there was a cc... Pretty safe to assume it wasn't an 1889-CC? Quote: This is a picture of an 1889 CC that graded F-12 by PCGS.
I think your coin is very close to a 12 but I'll stick with my VG10 grade. A liberal grader could easily put yours at F12 though.
