Now that I think about it more, the date probably isn't relevant if it's a 'pattern'. Any date could have been used.

Xshift,
I'm guessing it's just one piece from a larger "Europa" set. With rather obvious emphasis on the obverse, a different country theme was applied to the reverse to make a set. And, with so many flagrant mistakes to the map, I wonder if this private-issue originated in Europe at all.

The figure almost distracts from that awful map of Europe

I never even looked at the globe until I read your post.
That is VERY funny. Good eye DVCollector!
To have a value of 25 Euro this would have to be .999 silver would it not?

alganbagerap & xshift,

I tried to send them the message below but unfortunately, it came back as undeliverable. Thanks for the link, though. It was worth a shot.

Jen

I've been unsuccessfully trying to get some information regarding the coin found at the link below. I bought it off a vendor on ebay. The coin has the following written on it:
1997 25 Euro Europe Europa Confoederatio Helvetia. It features a nude woman on one side and a train on the other, as well as a small Swiss flag. The seller told me it was from Switzerland but I can't find it in any book. I wanted to know the mintage and the value, along with a little of its history.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jennifer

wheezydog,

The dealer who sold it to me said it was silver but he didn't know the content. I'm guessing .925 sterling.

I didn't detect anything egregiously wrong with the map, considering the artist probably created it as a stylized medieval representation; but I'm a blond so maybe I'm missing something, as usual ;)
