With gold going nuts right now, let's bring out some of the yellow metal in the form of half eagles. It's at 1,1016 an ounce!

I was originally thinking about some sets of gold coins. I talked to a Dansco representative to see if there were any gold coin albums and he said no.

So I'm not sure I want to collect a set (and they do cost a bit, obviously!) if I can't properly display them. So, for now, I'm not looking to build a set. (But I would if I could get a Dansco book for them...)

What a dilemma!

Note: the 1908 D is on ebay right now for sale since I need to buy a new 1846 Seated Liberty dollar!

I just love gold coins. So far I have 5 for my type set but I have only purchased one half eagle for my 7070 so far...

I was trying to get better images of my 1838 Classic half eagle last week and these were the best. This coin was purchased in an AU-55 ICG holder and PCGS crossed it at the same grade.

Nice half eagle Cownas! You are getting quite the nice type set!

Jaobler, your classic head is awesome! Very well struck for this series, and it is appropriately graded in my opinion. This series is very commonly overgraded from what I've seen especially in the AU and lower MS range. The surfaces are a tad rough, but less than average and the photo is probably bringing it out more than it would in hand.

Very nice Classic Half Eagle Jaobler- I am planning on buying one for my type set but will most likely have to settle for a XF-40 or VF-35 coin due to budget constraints. Very nice.
