Found this real nice 1994P-1DR-001.

I would think this would be a MS grade, but it has a ZINC-ROT? spot on the Reverse and 2 small spots by the extra column.

Would this still grade out to maybe a low MS60/61 or because of the "Rot"?- it's at best an AU coin?

I'm terrible at grading, so thanks for any input!

It has numerous small contact marks scattered about with what appears to be full red color. Hard to tell from the photos but I would say you have a nice MS63RD Lincoln. The small carbon spot on the reverse does not distract too much.

Your whole coin pictures are a bit over-exposed, so grading is a little tough, but this would be considered an MS coin by TPG standards. I have found they are very generous in their grading of modern cents. Two primary factors that come into play are luster and spots. One case in point was the 1992 CLAM found by bullnuke. PCGS graded the coin MS-62 (as I recall) but the coin is clearly AU-50. Other moderns I've seen graded also seem to have generous grades when compared to the standards used for Wheat cents.

This coin should have no problem with getting an MS-63 RD based on the pictures. However, if the luster is significant, there are no distracting hits and it looks nicer in hand, it may see a 64 or better even with the spots.....which don't seem to be terribly distracting IMO.
