I have a question. They are making 500,000 of these silver dollars, and the proof ones (in the set) are the San Fran mint mark. Does that mean only 50,000 of these silver dollars will be San Fran (proofs) and the 450,000 others will be Philly?

I checked around after seeing your post.....good question ! I thought that all would be "P" mints........but I have seen in several different places that they have said "S" mint Silver Lincoln with the "S" mint Cents in this Chronicle Set....
EVEN MORE INTERESTING !

No. When they sold the other 450,000 of them back in Feb of this year there were both P mint Uncs and S mint proofs sold. I don't know the actual mintage figure but probably around 300,000 of the were probably S mint proofs.

The Mint has announced that there will be a (1) set limit per household instead of (5). Better odds for everyone.

I don't really get what the big deal is then if there are already 300,000 S proof silver dollars out there and thats whats going to be in this set anyways. It's not like the silver dollar in this set will be any rarer than the other S proofs that have already been released. Are the pennies somewhat rarer than others that have been minted, or am I missing something?

I cannot find any reference to an S mint proof and the uncirculated and proof Lincoln commems sold in the spring were minted in Philly. Sales totals were 125,000 for uncs and 325,000 for the proofs. The Mint doe not like to create rarities so I have a hard time believing that they would mint 50,000 S Lincoln commems just for this set. However, if that did happen, the aftermarket price for this set would go through the roof

http://coins.coincollectingnews.org...ronicles-setThis site states that the S minted silver dollars and the S minted cents (all proofs) are minted in San Fran. Does this mean that the 50,000 sets being produced will be the only S mint marked for the year?

Many issues of commems have gone over the mintage limit, however most of these extra coins are used for assay and are destroyed in the proccess

Does this mean that the 50,000 sets being produced will be the only S mint marked for the year? I think there may be some confusion as to where the proof dollar is being made. That site says they are 2009-S, but it also says that they are the same as the proof dollars sold back in February which were 2009-P coins (I admit I had it wrong earlier when I said the coins sold in Feb were S mint coins. I assumed they were since typically for the Commemorative dollars the Mint has made the Unc in Philadelphia and the Proof in San Francisco that they did the same for the Lincoln dollar. They didn't. The Proof Lincolns were made in Philadelphia.) I checked on the Mint web site for both the press release and the upcoming products listings and they make no mention at all what mintmarks any of the coins will have, just that they will be proof.

Everyone who wants to buy this set almost certainly already has the 2009-P Lincoln Proof Silver Dollar and the four 2009-S Proof Cents!

Well, I want one of these and I do not have the proof Lincoln cents yet although I do have the commems. Of course, I will be ordering my Silver Proof Set and Mint set at the same time
