just joined and have some questions, I found this forum on google and saw this post https://goccf.com/t/53918 and after ready the link inside and the comments it has me worried, basicly a couple of years ago I got my girlfriend into collecting coins, well she has a pretty big collection so far ranging from old coins to new ones. she also bought alot of them off of ebay and I was wondering if there is anyone to tell if they are fakes or not made of silver etc, it would really ease my mind a bit if you could help me, she has invested alot of money in her collection and would hate to see some of it turn out fake.

First of all, welcome to the CCF! Pictures are a great help here at the Forum. Having said that, it would be great to see what she has. There is much knowledge here and I'm sure someone would be able to identify some of the diagnostics in determining a "fake". Unfortunately, there are many counterfeits coming out of China presently so you have to be very careful on ebay.

Since she is the one collecting coins, it might be a good idea if she joins the forum too! This way she could ask other members their thoughts about a specific item on ebay...Before she purchases it! And at the same time get some pointers about spotting potential fakes!

well I couldnt get decent pictures with the camera that I had on hand, was thinking of putting them on a scanner and scanning them but didnt know if that would lower the value on them or not cause about 2 or 3 of them are in slabs, 2 are ngc and one is something else I cant think of

The scanner should be fine for your coins as you are simply scanning the coins. The 2 NGC certified coins are more than likely legit. I have not heard of fake NGC slabs. Can't wait to see pics.
