Anyone have any idea why my two orders at the mint are on hold? The items I ordered say "in stock". Both the orders (one placed May7th and one placed yesterday) say "ON HOLD? Do you think they are doing this because of the price of silver? I ordered some ASE proofs and the proof sets. Anyone else on hold? Margaret

I've ordered a Silver Proof yesterday at the price listed.I hope i'll get it They had problems figuring out my Canadian mailing address for some reason.I can't even check on the web to see what's the status on this order.

I got the 2 roll Return to Monticello set yesterday. It was the fastest shipping I ever had from the mint.

does your order say "on hold" near the top of the page? I've never seen this before as I've ordered many times from the mint. Every item I ordered says in stock so I am puzzeld as to why they have it on hold. I thought it might be that they were contemplating raising the silver prices but it's been a week.
Maybe I will just have to call them monday! I want my coins. This could get ugly! Is anyone else on hold?

Margaret,
I can't check my order on line.I cannot create an account because apparently there is a problem accepting my Canadian postal code [:p] They said they will look into it.

Mine says "Your order has been suspended" but at the bottom it says in stock and reserved. I have seen the "On hold" before, but I have never seen "Suspended" before. What the heck is that?

Do they have your new credit card expiration date on file? While your card number will remain the same the expiration date on file at the mint can really cause you problems! Just a thought as I had it happen to me once!

My credit card info is ok...I guess I will have to call them monday too. Another thing about the mint is that two times in a row, I have actually received the product before the "Your order has shipped" email has gotten to me. Go figure.

From Coin World this week. "Amid rising gold prices, U.S. Mint officials suspended sales of the Proof 2006-W American Eagle gold coins May 5 while they determined at what prices remaining coins would be offered once sales are reopened." This could be some of your issues. Maybe silver is also on hold for now. As for "suspended" I have seen this right after you place the order, but it usually goes to "in process" soon after....(a day or so) MM

Hmmmm, I dunno if they would do that with the silver proof sets, at least not for the same reason. At the price they charge for the silver proof set there should be plenty of profit margin left shouldn't there?

How do you figure that. Currently the gold one ounce Proof $50 eagle is $ 770. Now if gold is 700 an ounce, that is a 70 dollar profit.(I am not going to figure in prod costs just for simplicity) Silver Eagle Proofs are 27.95, with silver at 14 bux an ounce, that is only a 13.95 profit. So, if they halted gold while still making 70 bux a coin, what makes you think they would not silver only making 14 bux a coin? Just thinking out loud.... MM

The Mint is going to be very hesitant about raising silver proof set prices as they already know they will HAVE to raise them next year due to the stupid Presidential dollars (4 per year). Two increases in two years is NOT going to set well with collectors! The days of cheap anything are over after this year. I would suggest you order whatever you normally collect and do it now!

As of today my order says "in process" veeerrryyy slow this time around. Tapna, what do you think of the set? Worth the aggrevation and the wait? Now I can't wait to see how long it takes before I see it go from in process to my front door! Patience is virtue right? Margaret
