In lower grades they are kicked around all over the place. Try obtaining one not-reproccessed in MS and they can fetch quite surprizing prices.

I was pretty sure it is plated. Guess I was wrong. Sorry

The only shiny ones I've seen like this have been 'reprocessed', but they usually have a more off color. It's hard to tell from the photos, but I'd be looking at the thickened letters and shiny surface and be inclined to think it was plated, as well.

In my opinion, the best way to differentiate original from the reprocessed is to look at the edge.
The original zinc plating was done before the blanks were punched, so the edge would have no zinc plating.
Reprocessed cents will always have a plated edge.

this one doesn't really look re-processed to me, the ones that are reprocessed looks almost like chrome and the original ones have a dull appearance to them, this one has the appearance of an original one to me but would need to see the edge to be sure Quote: I was pretty sure it is plated. Oddly enough that is one of my favorite coins. Now have 2,650 of them. And it is a falacy that you can always tell if reprocessed or not. Many have been reprocessed but with different metals. Some are Zinc plated, some Chome plated, some Tin plated, some Copper plated. In fact at a flea market today I was offered a Copper plated one. I only have 3 of those. Some are actually used by auto polishing product sellers to demonstrate how their polish works on metals. I'm trying to accumulate a complete roll of the Chome plated ones but those too are the least common. Only have about 25 of those. The Tinned ones look the best for authenticity. Not sure how many of those I have since they easily get in with real Zinced ones. The Zinc plated ones look real but the letters are usually fatter. Not always if done with a real light amount of Zinc. I do have many rolls of uncirculated ones also and those are from when they were new. All in those plastic rolls for a long, long time now. The one shown here does have that reprocessed appearance but it may well be just the photo. If done to a really great condition coin with a real light touch of Zinc, almost no one could tell.

I'm not a Lincoln collector, but I noticed the cartwheel luster on this coin.
