This should be a non-event ..... kind of like reporting that your dog barks or your wife snores ..... but ... Given the lack of 2009 Jefferson's out there ..... I hereby report my initial find of a 2009-P found in circulated bank rolls in Maryland. It's an ugly coin .... thin wire rim, poorly struck and lots of deep bag marks. I'm tempted to throw it into the reject bag ..... but hesitate knowing it might be worth 5 cents someday. One more hole plugged .... Who else has found a 2009 Jefferson in circulation? David

No don't throw it in the reject bag! I have not found one 2009 Lincoln Cent nickel or dime yet in change. I'd consider it a great find. At least at this point.

Not sure on the number of rolls 5 or 6 hundred this year and I just found my first 09P nickel 2 days ago, not very pretty but I'm keeping it. LP1 and 2s on the other hand have become quite frequent in the cent rolls I look at both P and D, but none of the varieties.

I say keep it as a wee trophy for the time being. And once all of the hoarded 2009s hit circulation you can throw it back into the rejects.

Keep it, Personally I can count on on hand how many 2009 coins I have found in circulation to date.
2 Lincoln Cents and 3 Quarters.

I'd hang onto it at least until they get more common. I haven't paid much attention but after reading this post I went to find the 2009 nickels that I have. I couldn't find anything. At this point I wouldn't pay a premium for one but it really is sort of strange that I can't come up with one. I save all of my change and dug through it all without finding a single one.

There seem to be huge geographic disparities in distribution on these things. That's probably why some people are findings tons and don't think they are worth much, and others are willing to pay a lot on e-bay for them. If you are one who is finding lots, you should probably capitalize on that!
