Just to make sure that someone answers this question who is absolutely and 100% certain (no guess work)...
All the are definitely small date. No question about it, and no chance that I'm wrong. Just trust me.

Each 9 has a hooked, pointed loop and there is no crease between the horizontal and diagonal of the 7s= three Small Dates 1970-S Lincolns

Thanks everyone!
I had no doubts about these being SD's but had posted them on another part of the forum and it started the debate about them being SD. Thanks coppercoins and biokemist6 for the verification. I was hoping to get some takers on my wager so someone else could pay for the grading. Badthad I'm going to be in Cinci the day after Thanksgiving so be on the lookout for a Tuna. :)

Quote: You may slap me with a tuna I read this and started laughing because it reminded me of my mIRC days because there was a think you could click in the nick bar that said "slap" and it would put a message in the channel saying you slapped that member about the head with a large tuna or trout

Some need others to make a decision, these are all small dates, the zero's are all level at the tops, the 9 loops towards the 7, 2-PUP'S alone for this variety, also the 9 has points at both ends, all equal, small date coins.I do feel the last photo is not very clear. I am amazed at some of the answers given, Some of the members here are what I would call seasoned Lincoln variety experts. I was too fooled till I did the research, and from what I hear, some TPG's make this same mistake. I have made this variety a research priority to know, it is easy to be fooled, study the PUP'S and you will not go wrong, one PUP I found nowhere else, but after researching found to be true is the fact that the 9 has points at both ends, on a small date coin unlike the large date where it has a blunt point at the top, or loop side, the bottom does come to a blunt pointed type end also. This I approached a copper coin expert, wrote to him, and was told while this would seem true, there are already to many PUP's for this coin. This topic and post would beg to differ.....

I swear the 70-S LD/SD will be the death of me...I was debating (with myself) on two pulled out of rolls yesterday. I'll have to post them when I get home tonight.

Seriously--in hand, these are easy to tell the difference. But sometimes pics can make me cross-eyed. This explains why the OP was so certain of these three--and I was baffled from staring too hard at the photos. I'm usually good with these.

looks like all '9's come to a point and point into the '7's. And all the '7's are level. Thanks for giving some good photos to give ALL mine a fresh look. Very nice!
