Managed to talk the seller down from $150 ask to $1 final sale price. the seller was insisting that the coin was from the Carson City mint (CC mint mark on the reverse) but I informed him that I think in this case it just means "Chinese counterfeit". Love the 1797 date, this coin was ahead of its time.

I want to contact that coin maker in China, so they can make me
that 1905-to-1920 Morgan dollar Set that I've been wanting...
(in a faux Dansco, of course!)
Complete with the 'key' 1906 'D-over-CC' DDO+DDR "VAM-Zero"

1797-CC? The mint got out West before Lewis & Clark!

I just got back from the Laughlin,NV. show and a dealer had an entire folder of cast Morgans and Trade dollars. He had one Morgan dated 1887-CC, another 1921-CC. He even had a cast Draped Bust Dollar dated 1797-CC. I could not stop laughing! He wanted $20 each. I walked away from his table smiling. His folder was labeled "cast counterfeits" and they were easily detectable as such.

The seller at the swap meet had the Trade dollar, several different 8 reales, Mexico 25peso Olympic, several Morgan dollars, and some foreign coins I didn't pay attention to. He sold me the Trade dollar for a buck to get me to leave his table. He had them in a small display case under lock and key (why bother?)as if they were valuable.

Did you turn him in? Selling fakes out in public like that to unsuspecting people can only serve to make this hobby look bad, never mind that it's a federal crime! God, I hate fakes, almost as much as the people who hawk them!

You should turn him in to the Secret Service for selling this crap. I'm sure he's ripped off countless other people wanting $150 for garbage like this. This kind of thing really irks me.
