Without a doubt, both sides must be shown. But, you made a nice site. Wish you luck.

I scoped out your site. I like it and bought 3 Seated Liberty dimes. That's my trial purchase. Normally I would never buy a coin without seeing both sides. But you seem honest. (I'll let everyone know how my buy turns out..) Thank you for the $5 CCF shipping discount and the nice email thanking me for the purchase. A nice personal touch. Just a couple of items: I have bought several coins through Harlan J. Berk. Their web site seems to be tailored to a higher end clientele (more dark/black backgrounds, gold highlighted items/things, etc). Their web site is also a bit more navigable then yours. You may wish to examine theirs and see if you wish to upgrade any areas of yours. Your prices don't seem (to me) to be outrageous. Not cheap, but along the amount I normally see. High quality and nice prices are always the way to a numismatists's heart! A larger selection of coins would also be nice. I agree the photos desperately need to match the coin offered. (The 1871 2 cent piece shows a 1870 coin). And you need a reverse picture of the coin being offered (I know I already said it, but it's worth saying twice). And a way to expand the coin picture (even more than you have). We want details of what we're paying for! NO SURPRISES! I also agree a link to Gold/Silver, etc. prices is nice but I would not have all the charts on the front page. Maybe have some different type (old/new/error?)coin specials listed? I do wish you good luck with your site! I have it as a shortcut on my computer and will check it out periodically.

I think all and all it is a very nice site and I too bookmarked it. The one big thing is the reverse of the coins need to be shown since alot of grading is based on the condition of the reverse.
Good Luck - Looks good and I plan on throwing you some business...

Just a quick note:
I agree with many of the comments already posted. No need to have all the Kitco charts posted. Gold & Silver would be plenty.
There are too many categories on the left side of the home page. Every category is not needed. Just do Cents, 5 cent pcs., Dimes, Quarters, etc. Then have sub-categories after the shopper has clicked their denomination of choice.
An "About Us" tab at the top is important. Put it right next to Home - Log In - Specials. People want to know who they're buying from.
Good Luck!

I too went to the that web site. Since I have a large amount of Mercury dimes I usually use those as an example of prices and quality on web sites. Good large assortment. As already noted your prices are on the high side. Photos are way to various in tones. One 21D said Uncirculated and the photo was of a just worn out one. As noted could use a reverse photo ability also or did I miss that. The main problem I think is your now facing massive compitition. I mean today a coin web site reminds me of when VHS tapes of movies first came out. Stores poped up all over the place selling them. Eventually the larger stores started to carry them and for really cheap prices and that led to the end of the little, smaller ones that only specialized in one item. Naturally some attempted to also carry electronic supplies and they too slowly vanished. By all this I mean your now facing numerous coin shows, coin stores, coin web sites for products for coins plus coins. TV adds, coin magazines adds, newspaper adds for coins. Even the famouse Red Book is full of coin company adds. Yes you get hits on your web site since so many people go to Google and type in coin web sites or coin dealers. But with compitition so great, you just have to have some prices that beat them all. Try going to other web sites frequently for price comparing. Also, try going to some coin shows for pricing also.

neversuited1-I have been checking out your site for a while (almost daily lately along with many others). Not having a quality local outlet, I purchase alot of coins online, so I spend a good bit of time looking and comparing prices. Your prices seem a little high, but not out of range. Being relatively new at this, I tend to purchase slabbed coins since I am not good at grading; so when I do buy a non certified coin, I really must see the obverse and reverse of the coins. Granted that has been said here several times, but for a simi novice, it is critical. I will keep coming back. Good luck with the site!

Update: I got my 3 Seated Liberty dimes. No surprises. The reverses' quality were the same as the obverses. (We still need pictures of the reverses.) Good: The dimes were nicely packaged. I got good updates and lots of thanks on my email address. Bad: The mailing address on the front of the envelope with my coins had 2 errors (A letter left off my last name and the name of my town changed from xxxxwood to xxxxville). A bit irritating, particularly since the inside invoice had the address correct 3 different times!! How does this happen? (Inattention to detail comes to mind!) Still, all in all, not a bad experience, I will probably buy from this seller again. However: Some changes still must be made. (It's still Washington "Quaters" and the 1871 2 cent piece picture is still an 1870).

I took a look at your website and thought it was very nice. The English on your home page needed a little work; so, I took the liberty to do so. Others, Please chime in and we'll see if we can't polish this up for him. You are on the right track and it's very commendable for you to ask for constructive criticism.

I do like the site and did bookmark it. You have done a lot of work and you have a good selection. I really think you have a lot more work ahead of you and keeping this site up to date is going to be a full time job. I really must see both sides of the coin and the pictures need to be of the coin I am about to purchase. An example and comment: $125 Ike? Is this a typo? You list a 1973 Eisenhower dollar Gem Uncirculated for $125 and the picture is not even close to Gem Uncirculated IMHO ? The next coin down is a 1973 Eisenhower Silver Dollar Choice Uncirculated for $11 and the picture does appear to be Choice Uncirculated. But now I'm wondering if this is the coin I am buying or are the pictures reversed? I know people, including myself, often call clad dollars-- silver dollars so maybe the word silver needs to be dropped or is it actually a 1973-S or 1973-S silver clad? I'm a little shakey when it comes to buying site un-seen and then when I see things like this I want to back off. Hope this helps you and wish you much success. I really like your site and prefer this over ebay. I like knowing what I am going to get, that I will get it and the price I will pay. Much better than waiting and watching a bid that someone may run up on you and you may never win due to a last milli-second bid after watching for days. Wishing you the best!

Neversuited1:
Why did you ask for our opinions and suggestions if you're not going to implement any of those changes?
From looking at your site yesterday, none of the things we at CCF have suggested have been addressed.
(I still wish you good luck with you endeavor, however.)

* Where are the reverse images (I was looking at the 3-cent and 20-cent coins? No reverse image...no interest in purchasing. * How about larger, better quality images (for example the 20-cent piece)? If I can't see enough detail I won't buy the coin.

Changes take time... especially since he mentioned doing a redesign so the descriptions would include both (correct!) sides of each coin, and needing to update the pics to higher quality one at a time, not to mention all the wonderful suggestions here. I don't think I'd expect updates to be visible for a bit, yet, unless he's going full-tilt boogie with no sleep and a diet of no-doz washed down with coffee

I went and it took me alot of clicks to get to a 1957D Lincoln Cent. Also the alternate text for the thumbnail photos obstructed the blowup picture. I would axe the alternate text, and improve the navigation.

Hi Tom, I enjoyed your site. Like others here I will tell you to take photographs of the reverse of the coins. The photographer who took the pictures of the obverse of the coins is very talented and I especially like the picture enlargement when the curser goes over the thumbnail. My only complaint was the title would pop up and cover up a part of the coin until a few seconds had passed. I checked the prices of the Lincoln pennies, Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes and Kennedy half dollars and found them to be acceptable. Shipping prices are acceptable as well. The economy as a whole has contracted and collectibles are an area that is suffering as people are feeling strapped financially. They will always buy food and pay the mortgage before buying luxury items and coins are a luxury item. I wish you well. Sincerely, John Leckrone
