Mmmmm, yuck?! Don't care for it at all. Just another sign of the times where things in American government are lackadaisical, and unimpressive is now the norm.

I generally like it. I suspect it will look decent in metallic form.

If the shield was slightly smaller with a sword or staff behind it with a Phrygian Cap on top of the sword might make it more interesting.

I like it, although obviously the results may differ once the coin is in hand, or in a proof set. Reminds me of the 1896 pattern series (cents and nickels; design by Charles Barber).

Not a big fan. For a coin that theoretically should be around for a while, it's not a terrific effort.
I would have been fine with the design, though, but for me it's just not easy on the eye. If they put some text below the shield and centered the shield itself, I think it would have been more palatable.

YAWN! Kind of like kissing your sister!
Very uninspiring in design and choice. And, I meant the coin.

It looks bland of art, I wish they could have put Seated Liberty or something more artistic on the reverse.

I like it. But then, I don't live there, so I won't have to live with them. For those of you that don't like it, look on the bright side: at least it won't be around for very long. The United States will surely stop making these worthless coins within a decade.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Reminds me of a symbol for a gang or a club of some sort, not a coin design. Maybe some are correct, in hand, it might be nice, maybe......

I hope it looks better in hand. Right now, I'm not a fan.

I thought there were 4 designs to choice from? If I remember correctly that is the worst of the four.

I like it for two reasons: it's an uncluttered, symbolic, pleasing design, and it's on a coin that we came close to losing.

I hope it looks better when it's minted on metal. Besides, I think it's just a matter of getting used to it. How did people feel when they first saw the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse of the 1959's? Like others have mentioned, this will probably be the last penny design I'll see in my lifetime. At least we won't have to seek out multiple designs every year starting in 2010 for the Lincoln Cent like this year.

I'm not a fan. It's a very boring attempt at reviving 19th century designs.

I like it...especially after looking at the the 18 proposed designs. I would have preferred the #14 shield (slightly smaller, etc.) to the #13 that they selected, but I think it's an interesting choice. I also think that the obverse should have changed as well...something similar to the nickel obverse change possibly?
