I am starting to put my common coins into Dansco albums, and see they have slots for the proof coins. While this is nice, what's the method for pushing a fresh, untouched proof coin into a cardbord slot in the Dansco albums?

It requires quite a bit of pressure to get the coin into the holder slot, and I dont want to blemish, or reduce the value of my proof by putting it in. Is there a safe way to do this?

In fact, I'm not just concerned about proof coins, but any coin. I dont like touching the faces of coins!

I think most people use cotton gloves when handling any coins

Definitely use cotton gloves and try to hold onto only the rim if you can.

Get a fine cotton cloth, and wrap it around a large round object(like a quarter from circulation), and use the rim of the object to put even pressure on the rim of the coin. It should pop in whithout a blemish.
Rest in Peace

I like Dansco albums, however I don't put proof coins in them. When a hole calls for a proof, I just make a new date out of paper on my computer, and tape it under the hole.

I don't like to collect proofs that way, and also I have to think their value would drop after being stuck in an album.

If you want to put the proofs in without so much pressure being required, put a circulated into the hole first remove it and put it back in until it goes in easy, then with cotton gloves press the proof in from the rims avoiding the field and relief of the coin as much as possible.By the way, its a good Idea to not use the High grade proofs for the folder, keep those in airtites !! Buy the lesser proof coins for the folder.

I do not put proofs in the folders but I know others who do, and they make a very nice looking folder when complete,,

I just use cotton gloves and pop them in, like Rick said on a new album use an old coin first, maybe a couple times. I use airtites on everything else. Most coins are not inexpensive and well worth the price of an airtite. You can get them fairly cheap if you buy in larger quanities.
