I think there is to much space between 9 and 1. But I'm no expert by any means.

I zoomed the image. It looks bad to me. There appears to be too much space between the 9 and 1.

Could you link to the ebay auction? That way we can report the coin if fraudulent, thanks!

Update: I enlarged that pic, and added a certified 1914-D.
The gap looks too big, and I haven't seen a 1914-D mintmark that high.

I found a cent like that back in 1965...no lie. The gap between the 9 and the 1 was just too large. I suspect someone with a great deal of skill reworked a common 1944 D?

My Aunt Francis accidentally reintroduced that cent into circulation in Kountze, Texas...so maybe it landed in your lap all these years later. LOL

This coin is a 1944-D Lincoln altered to appear to be a 14-D. Avoid!

My suspicions too...I think I see a remnant of the crossbar, hence the tiny eBay photo
