I posted this in another forum but it probably belongs here. Does anyone have experience with ICG? How are they as far as cost, turn around and most important accuracy? I've heard a lot of pros and cons about the TPGers about overgrading. Just wanted to know about ICG since a representative of theirs will be at our coin show tomorrow.

Costing is about the same as NGC. Good news, you do not have to have a membership to submit direct. Their grading on coins I have submitted to them seemed to be accurate and I agreed with them on most. I do not however, think they are as strict s NGC or PCGS. Probably moreon par with what I see coming out of ANACS now.

Other thing to keep in mind, their values seem to be less in the market compared to NGC and PCGS.

I agree, lower sale prices for ICG slabs compared to PCGS, ANACS, and NGC. They appear to be pretty accurate for classic coins and lower uncirculated grades, but IMO are too generous with PR-70 and MS-70 grades for moderns. Turnaround time and customer service seem fine.

Hi, I have used ICG for British and Commonwealth coins. I have used NGC and PCGS. I find the NGC pricing structure to be overinflated and I have found the grading variable. I have found PCGS consistent buy not very helpful and pricey if before 1955. I seek quality protection for my rare coins and an honest grade. ICG has been right on the mark for the many world (UK, South African, New Zealand, Australia, Indian ...) coins I have sent to be graded. Their grading has been consistent and accurate. I like their level of professionalism and understatement. At 12 dollars per coin for a value grade (under 500 dollars in pecuniary worth), it represents excellent value for money. As a secondary matter, I appreciate the ability to customise the label with my own collection signature since my coins are part of an extensive and respected series. Politics and dealer bias aside, I find ICG well worth it as an investment in the security and pedigree of my coins. --CP--
