I know this is not a obv 3 but cannot find any quality pictures of the obv 2 and obv 4 to compare. Thanks in advance...

You will need to show the whole obverse side of coin to help with identify better and the year would also help narrow the search?

papeldog, the year is stated in the topic and on the picture 1892. The obv 2 and obv 4 deals with the chin, nose and cheek accents.
Obv 2 is doubling of chin and pointing of nose.
Obv 4 the chin is rounded with the doubling reduced, the cheek accents are removed with the nose lines less harsh.
So far I have not been able to find any pictures of either of these obv to compare.

There are other things to help tell the different obverse type's. Check out this web site: dan-in-crystal-lake

I think it is an obverse 2, but would need to see the legends to be sure of that.

Finally got around to getting the pictures. papelgog I checked out dans site as per your suggestion and what a great site. After looking at his pictures I am inclined to agree with bosox on the obv 2. What would you grade this as?

There were two different obverse C2 dies used to mint 1892 cents. Both are scarce, but this is very much the scarcer of the two. Nice coin. A real keeper.

I am not up on grading, but to answer your question: It is the OBV 2. Notice the mouth, and, (the chin is not quite so rounded as in the OBV 1.) a slight double chin. Dick
