I recently purchased a 89cc in a F12. I also was unsure of its realism. It was graded byPCGS. I checked with PCGS and it was verified as real, but, there was still doubt in my mind. I send it into NGC for a crossover certification. It cost me $30 plus shipping and it was real and got and extra upgrade to boot. Considering the cost of this year and mint, its always good to be a little suspicious. I'm a new collector but I'm learning fast.
I hope all works out well.

Of course, I tracked the package and the seller received it.

If they got it back, you get a refund. Is that what they're saying?

Very interesting topic, just a note, there are a few CC Mint marks that were used, some uneven, some different sized 1st letter, compared to the 2nd letter, some tilted, etc, just my opinion....That certainly is a key date Morgan, buyers beware! Mike

It frustrates me how many people have bought key and semi-key dates slabbed by these basement slabbers. Like many others have said before, do not buy anything in a non-reputable TPG holder. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but it generally should be followed.

I have two 89cc's, one XF for my collection. As soon as I purchased it, I shipped it off to NGC. Got it regraded and now feel-safe. When you buy a coin (rare/k dates) get those things graded/slabbed ASAP. for piece of mind.

Just to give you all an update. The seller posted the coin I returned on ebay. I recognized the coin from its markings in the photos. He resold it to another person for twice what I paid--that's $1600. If I told ebay, would they take me seriously?
