I picked up a slabbed XF-40 1889 CC Morgan at an Estate Sale. How can I tell if this is real or not? It was graded by the North West Grading Corporation--I never heard of it. I did a search and found nothing. Has the name changed? Would anyone like to see pictures? Thank you for your help.

I would crack the slab and send coin to a known grading company.

Yes, please take high quality photos! A lot of money is at stake for a coin like this.

Pictures of the whole slab as well. I know about NWGS but I'm not sureif I have an example of their slab or not. They were not around very long.

I cannot upload photos due to the size limitations. I can sent the phtos to anyone who wants them. Any suggestions? I need help since I am disputing the charge with my credit card company...
I have a picture of a 1.) suspicious mark on the eagle breast, 2.) the Liberty Banner is not raised, 3.) a gate mark, and 4.) a weird crack on the back of the coin.

You can use Picasa 3 to resize the pictures.

If anyone would care to help me out here I would appreciate it. I have reported the incident to local authorities, but I do not have the coin in my possession--I returned it to the seller. My CC company and the seller are fighting it out now. It is a long story and I will share it if someone would can email me. Thank you everyone.

Quote: but I do not have the coin in my possession--I returned it to the seller. It will therefore be impossible for you to prove it's a fake, so that angle is out of play. Your best bet for the CC company is to prove the seller received the coin back, and you're therefore entitled to a refund. You did have the return shipment tracked, right?
