Hi all!
After sharing my first ancient purchase here a while back:
https://goccf.com/t/54332I've been very interested in adding to my collection. I went to a coin show shortly after picking up that one and was very disappointed to see that there was only one booth set up to deal in ancients, and they were all very high end...way out of my price range. So I've continued to shop locally and online and wanted to share my small, not high grade, not expensive, (but fun to me) collection of Ancient Roman coins (all info is from the dealer...I haven't looked any of them up for myself yet):
Severus Alexander AE25. 228 AD. Caesarea, Cappadocia

Caracalla AE26. 196-217AD. Thrace, Anchialus

Elagabalus AE25. 218-222 AD. Moesia Inferior, Markianopolis

Faustina II 145-175 AD. Rome Mint

Faustina Faustina Junior AE21. 146-176 AD. Thrace, Pautalia

Gordian III AE25. 238-244AD. Thrace, Odessos

Philip I AE28. 244-249 AD. Mosia Superior, Viminacium

Septimius Severus AE27. 193-211 AD. Moesia Inferior, Markianopolis

Maximinus II AE Follis. 308-309 AD. Cyxicus Mint

I'm really enjoying this new collection, even if it's sort of random so far. I'm looking forward to learning more about the people depicted on the coins that I have collected. I think most people do it the opposite way...collect for a certain figure or type. I was just interested in having a few nice, fun looking coins at this early point in my collection that will allow me to learn more about the people, the time period, and the coins themselves. I also wanted larger ones for easy viewing, not just the tiny ones that are as small as or smaller than a dime. These are each approx. the size of a quarter more or less...some a little larger, a few just a touch smaller.
If you're interested, additional info about each coin can be seen by clicking on the images here:
