Got mine today and hoping to go back tomorrow and get another one. You have to spend more than $25 before taxes and you only get 1 coin even if you spend $100. Saw people asking why they are not getting 4 coins.
Also suppose to be 1 coin per purchase per day.

Yeah... I spent 90 some bucks there today and was hoping that if I asked nicely that they would let me get 3 of them... or buy 2 more... no way no how... just the one. My plan... go back tomorrow to customer service and ask nicely to receive/buy at least 1 more... or return 25 dollars worth of merchandise and re-purchase said merchandise to get coin... now, we don't wanna go through all that now do we. >>> edit >>> ... nice coin for C.T. afficianados, obsessors(?), fans. Mine was in a soft clear flip/envelope pocket thingy as well, but opened not folded in... I have yet to remove it from it's original package, but if I hear PVC VVV, out it goes... >>> 2nd edit >>> There's more than 1 C.T. here too. I just wasn't thinking of it while shopping, but I could have made off with 3 if I had spread my shopping between them...

They've hit ebay, $21 cdn with bids. They're listed as uncirculated but when I went it came out of a change drawer like any other coin. No special holder or anything. I may have to hit a different Canadian Tire store tomorrow and see if I get something in holder of some sort.

Hmm I assumed this going to become a common C.T. coin, but at $21 does this imply that its actually limitted? Should I be going to get one?

^^^ cont'd from above somewhere ^^^ ... oookaay. I got a total of 3 out of 'em. The max with my purchases. Customer service was very busy, but pleasant and accomodating. I did see a snippet on the news where a C.T. spokesman said that the coin is a limited offering and that they would be redeemable same as the bills. He clearly says it is not an introductory trial... it's a one time promotion. But, just the fact that he makes this mention seems to me that some time in the future, some type of C.T. coinage will appear(?)... <<< purely my personal speculation and no way based on fact. >>> edit >>> All the coins were in the same type of flip/envelope(as I mentioned above), but not folded in. These coins are/were struck by the R.C.M. as mentioned by the spokesman on the news. Normally, this type of stuff ain't my forte... but I do like C.T. and the ebay prices made a vigilante consumer outta me... I'm usually just too lazy, busy, whatever, to make a return trip to a store for a mere dollar coin... but not this time!

1948, I noticed it too, in the (presumably) short time the coin was exposed to the PVC, it had already started to visually contaminate the coin.

I got 8 :-)
First: know your CT cashier - learn if she is a coin collector, go very early and pay for your stuff in batches around 25 bucks.
Second: they will not replace the money - this was a well succeeded PR stunt. The tokens have $1 value, 10X more than the normal reward (that was being handed out normally). CT counts on us for not putting the tokens back in circulation
Third: the tokens arrived in rolls of 25 - they were inserted in the flips by the cashier - in MY case, she was using cotton gloves (I have 1 MS65 maybe higher, 1 solid MS64 all the others 63/64 no fingerprints. I removed all from the flips - they do not have any numismatic value
I just wonder how many were made ...

I went to my nieces birthday last sunday and my father takes out the coin and says If I knew about the coins from Canadian Tire. I said of course. He then gave it to me knowing that I collect coins. I Love you DAD....sniff sniff....

I had to attend a funeral that weekend and fly home the next day so I missed my chance. Today my local C.T. store manager said he returned all the unused tokens to head office...I wonder what they'll DO with them? Return to RCM for credit? Doubtful. Melt them down? Less likely. Sell them on ebay? Possible. Re-issue them for a limited time only? More likely. This sounds like a brilliant marketing scheme; they KNOW collectors like us will come out of the woodwork and spend $30 to get a coin. I know I will! And I sure don't want a worn out EF-40 example!

They're for sale on ebay from cheap to expensive. I might have to get one because I have several Canadian Tire diecast delivery trucks, some Canadian Tire paper money and some of their other memorabilia.
