I just came from the coin shop, while I was the a guy came in a sold a 1882 CC to the owner. I was looking at it after and the owner offered it to me for $110. To me it looks AU+ just a slight touch of wear on the obverse hair tips (might not even call it wear) maybe bag rubbing. There is a trace of a finger print on the face. The reverse has no wear I can see, at least on fist look. Sometime when I look at a coin the second time I see more. But overall a nice looking coin, was thinking would be a good upgrade for my type set.
Does anyone have a good opinion on what the price of this coin should be? Forgot to add if $110 is a good price then I will run back down and get it. Edited by GR58 12/10/2009 12:51 pm

Pictures would help, but it seems fairly reasonable to me for a problem free AU/BU.

A problem free 1882-CC in AU condition is well worth $110.

Assuming you are correctly grading the coin it sounds like a good deal. Sometimes it helps to be in the right place at the right time. The owner may figure that selling it to you at a discount is worth it because it moves it out of his inventory almost immediately rather than sitting around in his shop for who knows how long.

Pictures would be great as there are four levels of AU. Considering it's a problem free coin, $110 sounds fine. All CC Morgans are great investments ;-)

Greysheet "Bid" for 1882-CC in AU is $120, so $110 is a good price if it's problem free.

The 2010 Red Book lists the 1882 CC Morgan AU-50 at $160. (MS-60 is $225.) Check the coin over any for any hidden dings or gouges, and if it still looks AU, buy it! Good Luck!

I don't think I would buy it even though it appears to be a decent deal. The fingerprint would bother me, & if it's been there a while it's not coming off.

I'm not a Morgan collector but I'm guessing AU55-AU58.Seems to have a good many bag marks but still good eye appeal

Looks like a great buy for $110! Could go MS but is AU55 at a minimum.

Nice looking coin, lots of luster I'll going to say AU-58. Nice buy for $110.

A nice looking AU coin. I'd say you got a pretty good deal for $110 there. I'd probably have saved my money for a key date. The 1885 CC, while a lot more expensive I think will probably have more upside to it.
