Here's a fine example of what I tell people regarding searching everything because you never know what you might discover.

Repunched mintmarks are virtually unknown for any Lincoln Cent in the mid to late 1970s, and I discovered this one in a BU roll last night. To date it is the best known bit of proof that RPMs do exist for cents in the latter half of the 1970s. They are just exceedingly scarce and very difficult to locate.

BTW, I have three examples available in R/B mint state if anyone is interested.

Very nice rpm and for an unlikely year. Your right though about searching everything. I had the tendency to put off looking thru some dates such as the mid to late 70's because of holding the mindset that there is nothing there and nothing new could possibly be found and if it was found who would really care but me. Time and time again you have proven that theory wrong Chuck. I haven't thought that way for sometime now and it's been rewarding for me.
Thanks for sharing,
Rock

In the interest of my own education, is the split serif the tell tale sign of the RPM? If not, what tells you this is an RPM?

Hockingzig: What makes a RPM is the miss punching of the mint mark on the die. The slightest miss punch makes what you can see on Chuck's coin. RPMs can occur different ways, but always a miss punching is the cause.
