Hello,

I've had this bill for quite some years now and just wondering if it is real and what it could be worth?

It is a real Federal Reserve Note but not a real error. What you have is a note that was cut from a sheet(32 notes) by someone intentionally trying to create an "error". The serial number 99XXXXXX is the clue- serial numbers that high only come from collector sheets. If you have a note with an offset like that on only one side, you would have a very nice and valuable error. In case you were wondering, the BEP sells $1 collector sheets for $55 as well as partial sheets and other denominations

As for value, it is all but worthless because it would be almost impossible to get a bank or merchant to accept it as a genuine $1 bill The only value it has is as a novelty.

I would have to see the front of the note but most notes like this are cut from sheets that come from the Bureau Of Engraving and Printing. People buy them and cut then like that, in order to make error like notes. Most are scams. I plan to post some notes I have acquired over the years that would surprise most in being as they now call them Flux notes, which as far as I am concerned are counterfeit notes. NEVER buy a note that is not graded by a reputable grading Company, best being PCGS and PMG. Hope I helped a little.

Unfortunately candras, biokemist6 is correct. While I did not know about the collector sheets thing, I can tell due to the number spacing. 100,000 difference means that there are two different notes probably coming from the same sheet, but with a 'vertical' separation of four notes between the two. No way could they be side by side. The numerical difference between the two notes would have to be 160,000 in order to be plausibly authentic.

they did a real good job on this one trying to fool everyone, all the numbers match except for one is 99670658 and the other is 99770658 so at first glance it looks like the serial numbers match (then it would be a real error). I guess someone excited when they first saw it wouldn't pay much attention to that one number being off and would think they had something really special

I'm with you Bryan, a fantastic job on seaming the two halves together. I am totally perplexed about how perfect it appears. I am thinking that this could be a intaglo print.
