Here is my 1932-D Washington, slabbed in a no-problem ICG holder. What grade do you think it deserves? I'm thinking about putting this coin up for auction on ebay. What would you guess I might see as a final ebay sale price? Edited by Jaobler 01/12/2010 12:13 am

I'd go Good Plus (G06) or maybe VG08 on a better day. ebay price? Strictly a guess but I'd say a hundred and a quarter, one-fifty if you do well. That mintmark looks like a navel. An outty.

I would give it a VG. The details are well worn but there is just enough left, especially in the wings and the arrow bunch in the eagle's talons to give it a VG over a G in my opinion.

Go check out the auctions on ebay right now to get an idea what your quarter might sell for. There are over 50 1932-D quarters for sale right now there. Here is one that is just ending that looks to be in the same ballpark as your coin grade wise (yours might be a bit better): http://cgi.ebay.com/1932-D-QUARTER-...NR_W0QQitemZ230414446369QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item35a5c56f21

Well, you folks were all less generous than ICG. Although the motto is weak, I suspect that is more a matter of strike than wear. The rims are very strong and the eagle wings have a lot of feather detail remaining. ICG gave it a F-12 grade. It has become increasingly important to have even low-grade 1932-D quarters slabbed to ensure authenticity. This coin was a replacement for a VG example I purchased raw which turned out to have an added D mintmark. I'm waiting to receive an ANACS XF-40 example I've ordered. It should be interesting to compare its detail with that of the F-12 ICG coin. I'll post images after the new coin arrives.

Wow! F12! I have to say ICG was generous with that grade.
Value wise an F12 is way higher than my guesstimate.
How much are you hoping to get for it?

I would grade it at VG10/F12, looks very close to my F12. Obverse detail is usually stronger than reverse because the obverse rim is thicker, thus protecting the devices better. This one almost seems the opposite of that with a slightly stronger reverse The motto on 1932s is typically very weak since they are the Light Motto variety and the D mintmark is usually a small blob with no center on heavily circulated coins.

Here are images of my new 1932-D. It's a nice upgrade. The ICG F-12 coin is currently on ebay, if anyone is interested (hint, hint!).

ICG was indeed very generous to that first 32-D. I have an identical coin in a PCGS slab which I believe was accurately graded at VG10. I have never sent a coin to ICG and probably never will. Good luck on your ebay auction! That ANACS coin looks to be accurately graded and nice! Congrats!

I have to agree with vermontensium - I think ICG is #4 of the major grading services and I don't think I would send a coin there. I would buy that coin as a VG-8 but certainly not as an F-12 and I think a lot of serious bidders may also feel the same way.

The ICG coin sold for about $110 and the ANACS coin cost me about $180, so I basically upgraded my 1932-D from a marginal F-12 to a solid EF-40 at a cost of $70. I'm satisfied!

That sounds like a good trade off. Greysheet Bid for EF is $250 so that was a good price. This is a good example of 2nd Tier TPG coins going for under Greysheet. I'd take the ANACS slab over ICG these days.....and both are usually less than PCGS/NGC as ws the case here.
