I would appreciate help on this coin. As with the other coins I have posted tonight I think notching is there...but I need confirmation from those who know! I know pics are not great, but I am learning!

I think I see notching on the date, mostly on the 7 but all digits have a notch. Liberty also looks interesting to me. Just my humble opinion. John1

and I'll bet the OP used more than one lighting source, and the result of using more than one lighting source is essentially lighting trickery (unintended of course). It puts things where there's really nothing and can make almost any coin appear doubled. About ten years ago I talked someone into going from two lighting sources to one, and he suddenly caught on to what doubling really is...because prior to losing one of the lighting sources EVERY coin appeared doubled to him.

Don't you hate it when you think you got something, and it's not anything? That's the story of my life, if you don't believe me then check out some of my older posts, lol. But believe me, I'd rather know the truth and be disappointed, than waste my time. Ignorance is not always bliss...

like a garden, full light will make things grow. I too see notches at top left of each letter and a lin from the notch in T. I've only been at this for a year and a half and take it from me, when looking hard for errors - dont look so hard. when the error is there you will easily see it. And is that an LED light your using? If so, you should change that and see how you do.

I agree...it sure is possible this coin is nothing special, but I was given a hand held microscope/digital camera with led lights...there really was no other lighting involved. The microscope opening is only about 1 or so round and I guess the overhead lighting could get in there...? I really do understand these are not very good pics. I just got a bit excited that I can now actually post a pic...guess I better learn how to do it better! I always appreciate honesty...from anyone, especially those I respect in this field...I'm old and I'm tough skinned...lol. I appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks, all!

lol.. stop it John1, you know that's the default And thick skinned one needs to be when dealing with varieties! What looks like doubling, won't, when under proper lighting.. or WILL and that's when everyone gets excited! Read, post, learn, read, post, learn, rinse, repeat
